Overview
This project involved designing a complete brand identity system for a climate-tech startup. The work explored how synthetic materials carry narratives of convenience and disposability, and whether those narratives can be rewritten through form. Process
Early sketches focused on surface and texture — the way polystyrene catches light differently from stone, and how the two materials can be made to speak the same visual language. Working through several material iterations revealed that the transformation from a rigid block to an amorphous blob is not just formal — it is also a shift in perceived value and permanence.
Result
The finished objects occupy an ambiguous space between geological specimen and synthetic artefact. Viewers consistently struggle to identify the material, which was the intended effect.
“The material resists easy categorisation — it looks ancient and industrial at the same time.”
